Lash Mapping 101: How We Customise Every Lash Set

When it comes to lash extensions, there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach. Every set we create is as unique as the face it frames. That’s where lash mapping comes in—a professional technique used by lash artists to design a customised lash look tailored specifically to your eye shape, natural lashes, and desired outcome.

Lash mapping is essential for your new set of extensions as this technique ensures symmetry, consistency and a final look that suits your eye shape. We map by drawing onto an under-eye pad, creating a “blueprint” that shows where different lash lengths, curls, and thicknesses will go.

No two faces or eyes are the same. Lash mapping allows us to tailor the design to your unique eye shape- whether this is almond, hooded, round, monolid, or downturned. It also ensures we apply each lash to enhance your natural lashes safely and beautifully. Whether you want a cat-eye, doll-eye, or wispy hybrid set, the map makes it happen flawlessly.

There are four main lash styles that we often get asked to map at Beaches Lash Co:

1. Doll Eye

This is best for people with smaller eyes as it has an eye-opening effect due to the longest lashes being placed in the centre.

2. Cat Eye

This shape is best for those with almond or round eyes as the lashes gradually lengthen toward the outer corner for a lifted look.

3. Squirrel Style

This is best for a soft, lifted effect, as the longest lashes are placed slightly off-centre. It is perfect if you want that open eye effect with a slight lengthening at the ends.

4. Kitten Eye

This is a more subtle cat eye which includes the soft tapering of longer lashes on the outer half of the eye, with a few shorter lengths at the end. This still gives a cat eye effect but not as intense. This is perfect for downturned eyes, as it still lifts them without too much heaviness on the ends.

We create the map by checking your natural lash health, length, and direction to ensure safe application. Using an under-eye pad, we mark out the zones for various lash lengths and curls. We select the best curl (C, D, etc.), thickness, and length for each section. Following the map, we apply each lash extension with care and accuracy to create a masterpiece!

Lash mapping is more than just a technical step—it’s an art form that transforms the lash experience. At Beaches Lash Co, we pride ourselves on personalising every set, ensuring you leave with lashes that feel light, look stunning, and last longer. If you want to try a new style with your lashes, just let us know! We love a challenge and we are always excited to try something different.
